These prints represent a major progression forwards in my printmaking evolution. My first day screenprinting I worked with a mechanically stretched (bought) screen. I was terrified of not achieving “snap” and I was also afraid of going broke if I continued with commercial products. By the time I got to these, I was experimenting with about a dozen fabrics and stretching my own with a tensioning table. By this point I was sold on building up my own inks from anything other than commercial printmaking supplies. I’m proud of these because I’d gained control over viscosity and transparency and repeats and good registration were working despite there being no “snap”. May 2015.
